Burgers finally got their due at this year's San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival at SWISH: Serious Sips and Urban Eats, a booze-filled burger showdown hosted by Richard Blais at the San Diego Public Market.
Fifteen restaurants presented a signature burger, hoping to capture the hearts (and voting token) of attendees. Several of my favorite spots around town were in attendance, along with a few catering companies and Blais himself, whose first restaurant in San Diego is slated to open early next year (no word on if there will be a burger on the menu yet).
Highlights included BO-beau's sweet and savory entry (which placed second), Session Public's namesake burger, and the cooked-to-perfection breakfast burger from Brian's 24.
Kevin Templeton, Executive Chef at Barleymash, won the people's choice award for his mini burger topped with pork shoulder, tobacco onions, and pepper jack cheese. Flip through the slideshow to see all of the burgers »
