It's the moment some people have been waiting for: the Guinness record for world's biggest burger in a one-off event has been broken. Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, Minnesota, served the record-breaking 2,014-pound, 10-foot-diameter bacon cheeseburger on Sunday at their Big Burger Bash event. Guinness World Records adjudicator Philip Robertson was flown in to verify the record. More details from the Duluth News Tribune:
Black Bear's burger also included 60 pounds of bacon, 50 pounds of lettuce, 50 pounds of sliced onions, 40 pounds of pickles and 40 pounds of cheese.
An outdoor oven powered by propane torches and 15-foot steel skillets were specially constructed to cook the burger and its bun, provided by Twig Bakery. It took about four hours at 350 degrees to cook the burger, and more than seven hours to bake the bun.
A crane was used to hoist and flip the burger as it was cooked and assembled.
