Red Robin is getting into the fast casual business with Burger Works, opening its first location November 21 in Northfield Stapleton in Denver (map). Compared to Red Robin, Burger Works features a simpler and lower priced menu of 1/3-pound burgers and also offers beer and wine. Some burgers from Red Robin appear on Burger Works' menu, along with original burgers and a build-your-own-burger option with choice of beef or chicken patty, 13 free toppings, and 10 "fancy" toppings.
Burgers at Burger Works range from $4.49 to $5.99, while burgers at Red Robin mostly fall between $9 and $10 (or more or less; prices vary by location). Red Robin's burgers include bottomless steak fries though, while sides cost extra at Burger Works.
Besides putting Red Robin up against fast casual burger chains like Smashburger and Five Guys, Burger Works allows the mostly suburban-located Red Robin to enter new markets like airports, military bases, college campuses, or food courts.
