At last night's Burger Bash at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival, Spike Mendelsohn of Washington, D.C.'s Good Stuff Eatery won three awards: People's Choice, Judges Award, and the Best Dressed Burger. Serious Eats founder Ed Levine got to try the winning burger, the Colletti's Smokehouse burger, topped with applewood bacon, sharp Vermont cheddar, fried Vidalia onion rings, and chipotle barbecue sauce. Ed says, "Mine was medium-rare, not too big, not too small, and every bite was beefy, juicy, crunchy, and tangy. It was everything you could want in a burger."
Read Ed's post for an overview of the other burger contestants. The Burger Beast also has an overview with photos of the burgers.
