Since cookies resembling burgers tend to have a bun / filling / bun construction, I was surprised when I saw Michelle's flat burger cookies. They're made of chocolate and butterscotch cookies and decorated with frosting in three colors and green coconut flakes. I'm sure they went nicely with her boyfriend's burger collection.

How to Make Hamburger Cookies

Sometimes there are few things as rewarding as playing with your food. Jenn of justJENN recipes makes these sweet burger bite cookies as whimsical party food. While we've posted about this kind of burger cookie before, Jenn provides a little more direction. Here's how you make them:

First, make the lettuce by tossing shredded coconut with a few drops of green food coloring and water. Make open-faced "burgers" by stacking a York Peppermint Patty on a Nilla wafer and bake for just a minute in a 350°F oven, so the top is a little melty and stick-able. Immediately sprinkle with the "lettuce" and top with another Nilla wafer "bun," pressing down so everything sticks. Then, using a clean finger dipped in water, wet the top of the buns and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Voila: hamburger cookies! Perhaps melted and strained raspberry or strawberry jam would make a good ketchup?

I think hamburger joints around the nation should start giving these out with the check.
