Massachusetts-based Wahlburgers is opening in Britain and Ireland this year, according to actor and Walhburger's co-owner Mark Wahlberg in an interview with British newspaper Metro. He doesn't give many details about the expansion, just that they're "opening a bunch of them," but he does mention that the restaurant is "making $17,000 a day" and that there are "lines queuing around the corner." Three months after coming with their newest burger, the Hot 'N Juicy, Wendy's is releasing another burger, The W, in December. The burger will feature two 2.25-ounce patties, two slices of cheese, red onion, tomato, crinkle-cut pickles, and special sauce—looking like a smaller version of a double-patty Hot 'N Juicy. Red Robin is getting into the fast casual business with Burger Works, opening its first location November 21 in Northfield Stapleton in Denver (map). Compared to Red Robin, Burger Works features a simpler and lower priced menu of 1/3-pound burgers and also offers beer and wine. Some burgers from Red Robin appear on Burger Works' menu, along with original burgers and a build-your-own-burger option with choice of beef or chicken patty, 13 free toppings, and 10 "fancy" toppings. Domino's Pizza founder Thomas Monaghan is getting in on the burger trend by opening his first gourmet burger delivery shop, Gyrene Burger, in two months in Naples, Florida, at Central Avenue and U.S. 41, reports naplesnews.com. They'll offer two kinds of double-patty Angus beef burgers for under $6, one topped with ketchup, mustard, and pickle, and another topped with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. Both will also have cheese and bacon. Sides and drinks won't be available for greater efficiency and speed (the goal is to deliver the burgers in 15 minutes or less). More
Chef Paul Wahlberg along with his brothers, actors Mark and Donnie, are planning to open a 4,300 square feet burger joint called Walhburgers in Hingham, Massachusetts, across from Wahlberg's Italian restaurant Alma Nove, says the Boston Herald. To get the name they had to secure the rights from Rochester-based burger chain Tom Wahl's, who menu features a burger called the Wahlburger (topped with Swiss, grilled smoked ham, lettuce, and special sauce). According to their Facebook page, Wahlburgers plans on having a soft opening in the middle of September and having their grand opening in October. More
