Serious Eats intern-turned-obsessive-Chinatown-documentarian Gordon Mark reminds us that sometimes what we're looking for might be right before our eyes. His buddy Herman tipped him to the burger at the Antique Cafe, a coffee shop just a couple doors down from the AHT-Serious Eats office. "Best burger I've ever eaten," Herman said.
Then Gordon grabbed one and concurred, even starting his own food blog and documenting it on what he's calling Gordon Eats:
But what did it for me was the burger patty. It was quite a substantial chunk of meat. Also the cheese didn’t overpower the burger. Nice. I would get it more often if it wasn’t so expensive. It comes with salad and fries and costs almost $10 (9 dollars and 60 something cents).
This will be my lunch today. Look for another post on this place later today.

Just thought I'd drop in today with a quickie on Brgr in Chelsea—on Seventh Avenue at 26th Street.
I've never done an in-depth look at the place, in part because it ended up being a go-to spot for me and the rest of the folks at the AHT–Serious Eats offices. And you know that old adage about not deficatin' where you do your domesticatin', right?
Not that I would slag the place—It puts out a solid burger.
Anyway, we've now been a number of times since the original mastermind behind the operation, Chris Russell, was ousted late last year, and I figured I'd blab about the changes and the state of the burger there. Burger blabbitation begins after the jump.

Some initial reports from recently opened Brgr ...
New York magazine: No real critique, just background: "One-third pound natural Angus, sourced from boutique beefery Montana Legend, seasoned with house-blend spice mix and griddled or charbroiled to temperature." [link]
The Homesick Texan: "I stopped by Brgr on Seventh Avenue this evening. I ordered a medium-rare cheeseburger, and it came out way overdone. Small 100% Angus beef patty was overwhelmed by veggies. A snack, not a meal. Expensive." [link]
Eat for Victory: "It reminded me of a guy who looks hot from down the block, but not so good up close. The place is slick and overtly trendy, and the menu is appealing, but the details are all messed up." [link]
Any other reports, folks?

News is trickling in about Tom Colicchio's new restaurant, Craftsteak. There's plenty of good news from Thrillist, The Strong Buzz and Eater. At first there was no real news about a burger. Then, at the end of a report from a tipster at Eater, we see:
Also, word has it that a hamburger will grace the lunch menu.
Well, well, well. It's not much, but it's enough to get me excited. Then I opened up my email this morning and almost choked on my coffee while reading Thrillist's report:

Pop Burger is still as hot as ever with celebs. According to our fave gossip column, Page Six, Leo DiCaprio and Gisele Bundchen made a casual appearance there last Thursday. They were "chowing down at the counter," proving that beautiful people eat burgers too (at least mini ones). We'd kinda noticed Leo's consumption of something was up, but it's good to know he's chosen to get fat and old on burgers and Bundchen and nothing too notorious. While that would make for better gossip, we were satisfied to also read that comeback comedy king Bill Murray was simultaneously enjoying his time at the neon establishment chewing the fat with owner Roy Liebenthal. (And who can forget Mr. Murrayalong with John Belushi and Gilda Radnerin the famous "Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger" sketch on Saturday Night Live?)
