Symon's entry, the Fat Doug, won the People's Choice Award, beating out 30 burgers from competitors across the country.
The same burger, featuring a sirloin, brisket, and short rib patty topped with coleslaw, pastrami, aged Havarti, and mustard, also nabbed the title at the 2010 event. Symon's Yo Burger!, topped with fried salami, provolone cheese, shasha sauce, and pickled onion won in 2011 and his Porky Burger, a pork and bacon burger topped with pulled pork and coleslaw, won in 2012. Bobby Flay took the title last year.
Shake Shack's BurgerMeister, a cheeseburger topped with beer-marinated shallots and ShackSauce, won this year's Judges' Award. The beloved burger chain's SmokeStack burger also won the savory category in the Best of the Munchies competition.
Chef Brad Halsten of The Burger Dive in Billings, MT won Red Robin's Best of the Bash Award and took home a cool $10,000. His Blackened Sabbath burger, featuring a seasoned patty with goat cheese, bacon, garlic basil mayo, arugula, Sriracha, and a beer battered onion ring, may soon appear on Red Robin's premium burger menu.
