50/50 tots from Delux Dogs AHT review [Photograph: Erin Jackson]

Eating a burger without something on the side feels incomplete. Whether it's a handful of homemade potato chips or some sweet potato tots, even a small portion of starchy, deep-fried goodness goes a long way. This week, we want to know what you like best with your burger. To keep the options from spiraling out of control, we've limited the choices to several forms of fried potatoes (plus onion rings). So, what's your favorite? Cast your vote and let us know.

Results from Last Week's Poll

Last week, we asked how you like your onions. I thought I'd included every possible variation, but a few of you had some great ideas that weren't on the list. Here are a few examples:

I love onions any way I can get them on a burger. Finely grated into the patty before cooking is a good option, too...

I voted for caramelized onions since you left off my favorite: crispy onion straws, which are distinct from onion rings in that they are smaller, always much crispier, and usually more seasoned than their circular counterpart.

Generally, raw red onion slices are my go-to. But, if I'm hosting, I will cook down a whole bunch of sweet onions in bacon fat, low and slow, with brown sugar and Cajun salt.

Poll Results

Caramelized onions were far and away the most preferred onion preparation, with 44 percent of the vote. The next popular options were grilled (16 percent), raw red onion (11 percent), and raw white onion (10 percent). AHT'ers were less excited about other onion preparations, including finely diced white onion (6 percent), onion jam (4 percent), onion rings (4 percent), and pickled onions (2 percent). Only 3 percent of AHT'ers said they'd rather skip the onions entirely.

Note: the poll remains open, so these numbers may shift slightly in the future.
