According to the Albuquerque Journal, Bobcat Bite operators, Bonnie and John Eckre, were forced to close the legendary restaurant in July due to a dispute with the building's owner.
Their new location in downtown Santa Fe at 311 Old Santa Fe Trail (map) is significantly larger and has a different name, but you can still get the same green chile cheeseburgers, along with a greatly expanded menu of dishes, including street tacos, green chile chicken enchiladas, and fish and chips (Fridays only). Unlike Bobcat Bite, Santa Fe Bite is also open for breakfast and Sunday brunch... but if the early morning fare, like cornmeal pancakes and biscuits and gravy, doesn't do it for you, burgers are always an option, even at 7 a.m.
Have any AHT'ers checked out the new location? Let us know how it went in the comments section!
