Congratulations to Bobby Flay for winning the People's Choice Award at last Friday's South Beach Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash, breaking Michael Symon's three-year winning streak. (This year Symon tied with Josh Capon for second place.) Flay won for his green chile cheeseburger topped with queso sauce, green chile relish, pickled red onions, and potato chips. The winning burger will be available at all Bobby's Burger Palace locations this week, from February 25 to March 3.
The other winners of the night were Food Network host Jeff Mauro, whose "Greatest Patty Melt in the History of America" won the Judges' Award; chef Craig Koketsu of Quality Meats in New York City, whose Bacon & Blue Dry-Aged Burger won the Best Dressed Burger Award; and chef Laurent Tourondel of LT Burger, whose Smash Smoke Burger won the Best of the Bash Award. Tourondel's burger topped with "black peppered bacon, New York State cheddar, Spanish onion, and sweet catch-up" will be featured on Red Robin's menu this year as part of their new premium burger line.
