Celebrate Pasadena Cheeseburger Week, January 13 to 18
Next week from January 13 to 18, Pasadena is celebrating their second annual Pasadena Cheeseburger Week during which over 40 restaurants in the city will offer special deals and creative burger interpretations. When you've eaten your fill of burgers, vote for your favorite restaurants in this online survey for the chance to win a cheeseburger meal at a participating restaurant.
Pasadena Cheeseburger Week is held in honor of being the birthplace of the cheeseburger. The story goes that around 1924, 16-year-old Lionel Sternberger accidentally burned a burger patty while working at his dad's restaurant, the Rite Spot Cafe, but he saved it by covering the blemish with a slice of cheese. Thankfully, the customer loved it. The burger made its way on the menu as the Aristocratic Hamburger with a price tag of 15¢. Los Angeles Times has more info about the story.
