Comment of the Day: How to Make A Good Waffle Burger
AHT's founder Adam Kuban may no longer be a regular AHT contributor, but when he emerges to share some burger advice, it's good. Especially when it's all in caps.
So in case you missed his comment on Erin's review of a lackluster waffle burger at Pete's Mayo, here it is:
LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MCDONALD'S SAUSAGE MCGRIDDLES. THEY ARE BRILLIANT. WHY? BECAUSE THEY MIX SWEET AND SALTY AND SAVORY. THEY ARE CHEAP AND SHITTY FOR YOU, BUT THEY TASTE GREAT IF YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT MOOD. I AM OFTEN IN THE RIGHT MOOD.
HERE IS WHAT THIS PLACE NEEDS TO DO. MAKE WAFFLES FROM SCRATCH. THAT'S NUMBER 1. NUMBER 2, THEY NEED TO BUT BUTTER AND MAPLE SYRUP ON THERE. NOT TOO MUCH ... THAT WOULD MAKE IT MESSY. JUST A BIT FOR FLAVOR. THEN THEY NEED TO MAKE SURE THE BURGER PATTY IS PLENTY SEASONED WITH SALT. TO GET THAT SWEET-SALTY CONTRAST. THIS IS THE KEY. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE WET THEIR PANTS OVER SEA-SALT CARAMELS. OR WHY PEANUT M&MS ARE SO GOOD. OR WHY I LOVE TO PUT PEANUT M&MS IN MY MOVIE POPCORNS.
PETE'S MAYO, FIFY.
We miss you, Adam!
