Congratulations to Michael Symon of Cleveland's B Spot for winning the People's Choice Award at last Friday's South Beach Wine and Food Festival Burger Bash for the third year in a row. This year he made the Porky Burger, a pork and bacon burger topped with pulled pork and coleslaw. Last year he won for his Yo! Burger topped with fried salami, provolone cheese, shasha sauce, and pickled onion; the year before he won for his Fat Doug burger topped with Swiss, pastrami, and coleslaw.
Brendan B. Connor of Miami's Whisk won the Judge's Favorite award for his crispy shallot, bacon and Swiss burger, and Guy Fieri won the Best Dressed Burger award for his Straight‐Up With a Pig Patty burger topped with "a liberal slathering of donkey sauce" (er, that's sauce made with horseradish, mustard, capers, mayo, and garlic).
