Asking for a double cheeseburger at a fancy-pants restaurant may be seen as a joke, but not at Eleven Madison Park, where great burgers are available across the street at Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. From New York Post:

Who says a four-star restaurant can't have a sense of humor? When powerful real estate dealmakers Peter Riguardi and Mitchell Konsker of Jones Lang LaSalle dined with their wives the other night at Eleven Madison Park — where the cryptic menu lists only the main elements of chef Daniel Humm's esoteric dishes — Konsker jokingly asked, "How's your double cheeseburger?" Floor captain Kevin Browne cheerfully replied, "I'm here to make all your wishes come true," reports Post restaurant/real estate maven Steve Cuozzo. After the second course, waiters presented the foursome with large white bowls, announced, "a small tasting for you" — and dramatically removed the lids, revealing cheeseburgers from Shake Shack across the street.

They weren't charged extra for the $6.75 double cheeseburgers on top of the $220-per-person wine-paired menu.
