If you're going to a Brewers game at Miller Park here in Milwaukee, you have a few transportation options. You can drive and park in the lots (tailgating, anyone?), park on the street and walk quite a ways, or take one of the free shuttles offered by the many bars that line the area near 60th and Bluemound. I'm usually too cheap to pay for parking, and too lazy—or intoxicated—to walk very far, so free shuttles it is.
Free, in this case, means you need to buy a drink or some food at the bar before getting a ticket for the shuttle. That's perfectly all right by me; Lord knows the prices are about a hundred times cheaper than in the stadium anyway. So far, the Brewers bar with the best food I've found is Rounding Third. It's even better than most bars, Brewers shuttle or not. After my recent visit, it will definitely be my go-to bar when I've got tickets to the game.

I know this is a burger blog, but I have to start with the chili cheese fries. They were amazing. If I can enjoy a huge pile of heart attack-inducing goodness this much when I'm not drinking, I can only imagine what it'd be like when I'm tipsy or hungover. The chili is made in-house with ground beef, black beans, and corn, and even though it's tomato-based, it has a rich chile flavor. I like things hot, so it wasn't spicy enough for me, but that's a pretty small complaint. There must have been a half-pound of cheddar melted on top, plus a generous amount of sour cream and red onions. The fries are meaty and not greasy, perfect for soaking up chili and still keeping their shape. Go here, drink, and order these.

Now that that's out of the way, on to the burgers. They were very respectable, especially the signature Rounding Third burger, which I ordered as a monster quad. It's their version of a Big Mac, but with 1/4-pound patties, cheddar, and a house-made pickle dressing. The beef was grilled, lending just the right amount of smokiness. The patties had perfect diamond grill marks that gave just enough char. They were well done, but still juicy enough to soak the bottom bun and require some finger-wiping in between bites.
The pickle dressing was less like Thousand Island and more like tartar sauce, which I quite liked. It was white, so no ketchup. True to its name, it was heavy on the dill. Along with the shredded lettuce and tomatoes, it was a nice fresh element. Even with the moist toppings and four patties, the grilled kaiser roll held up admirably.

The Guinness barbeque burger included a 1/2-pound patty that had unfortunately dried out more on the grill. It had the same delicious flavor as the smaller patties, so I'd recommend sticking with those. Besides a couple slices of cheddar, the burger was topped with crisp applewood-smoked bacon, deep fried onion slices, and a house-made Guinness BBQ sauce. The sauce was sweet with a little heat and quite good, but most of it squished off the burger while eating it.

The fried onion slices were heavy and greasy, and overall this burger could have used something fresh or tart to lighten it up. But perhaps I just felt that way, having eaten a giant plate of chili cheese fries a few minutes earlier.
The standard fries that come with the burgers were the same as those in the chili cheese fries. They're more meaty than crisp, but there's a light seasoning on them that makes them stand out. For a dollar extra, I upgraded one side to buffalo fries. They were pretty disappointing and super thin, lacking much buffalo flavor or spice at all. Stick with the regular fries.

As long as you stick to the 1/4-pound burgers (or multiples thereof), Rounding Third offers some great grilled beef with interesting homemade sauces. You can even get their chili on a burger, in case you're not quite up for a whole plate of chili cheese fries. I'll definitely go back, Brewers shuttle or not.
