Video: Should You Put Mayo On Your Burger?
As part of their Head-to-Head series, Today asked New York City chefs Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto and April Bloomfield of The Spotted Pig, The Breslin, and The John Dory, "Should you put mayo on your burger?" Waxman is all for having a "luxurious layer of mayo" in his burger, but Bloomfield is against using mayo (or ketchup) in burgers so that the beef can "shine for itself." (Granted, this is the chef who puts Roquefort on her burgers at the Spotted Pig, but she says the cheese complements the beef. You can order the burger naked, or if you're really sneaky, bring your own American cheese. Oh, and you can also make it at home. Yup, we like that burger.)
How about you? Are you for or against mayo on burgers?
