Not the Battle of the Century: Shaq vs. Rachael Ray in Burger Making
"Basically I've been cooking all my life: Top Ramen, fried chicken, hot dogs, oodles of noodles—I'm a cooking master." —Shaq
This week's episode of Shaq vs—the ABC reality show in which Shaquille O'Neal competes against professionals in sports, entertainment, and in one instance, spelling—featured a burger-making battle against "the queen of burgers," Rachael Ray. Shaq gets off to a rocky start when he has trouble identifying peppers and artichokes during their trip to the supermarket, but when he gets Rachael out of the supermarket, he reveals his strategy: "See, Rachael thought I wasn't paying attention. That's what you do: Act like you don't pay attention, and then you steal all their ideas."
Shaq makes a burger seasoned with cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, egg, mustard, Parmesan, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, while Rachael seasons hers with ancho chile, black pepper, salt, marjoram, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and beer. A panel of five blindfolded judges determined the winner.
I don't think it's much of a spoiler to reveal that Shaq lost (like in all the other episodes, aside from one tie), but it's entertaining to watch him interact with Rachael. You can watch the full episode at abc.com or just the burger-centric clips at Eater.
