Today's Special at Rustic Canyon in LA: Burgers and Beer Mondays

Rustic Canyon chef Evan Funke might just be the reluctant messiah of burgerdom. While his deepest culinary talents lay beyond burger borders, he's unable to restrain his creative impulses when it comes to the burger canvas. On Mondays you can grab one of Funke's burger creations and a craft beer for a reduced price. Tonight it's the Tomato Burrata Burger paired with Uncommon Brewers Siamese Twin Ale for $16 and (what might be a game-changer) The Breakfast Burger with one of my favorites, the Craftsman 1903. Get a look at the burgers after the jump.

Ladies and Gentlemen, behold The Breakfast Burger. The eight ounces of 80/20 Niman Ranch beef, thick cut bacon confit (cooked and preserved in duck fat), Tillamook sharp cheddar, a fried egg, and arugula sitting between a Röckenwagner bun would be enough to make this a fantastic burger, but there's more. Funke adds a round of perfectly-cooked hash browns that might stamp this burger's ticket to the hall of fame. He was inspired his girlfriend's reference to the French fry-stuffed "California" burritos you find in San Diego Mexican food joints. Check out the tomato burrata burger after the jump.

The Tomato Burrata Burger is such a mass of high-end ingredients I can only assume that this is a loss leader for Rustic Canyon which is, inevitably, my (weight) gain.
