Next month, a McDonald's restaurant and McCafe are coming to Paris' Louvre museum, the most visited museum in the world with more than 8 million visitors annually, and people aren't happy about it. Telegraph gathers opinions from unhappy museum staff members and statements from the museum about their decision. "This is the pinnacle of exhausting consumerism, deficient gastronomy and very unpleasant odours in the context of a museum," said one art historian at the Louvre.

Although many people in France may dislike McDonald's, plenty of people seem to love the chain: France is McDonald's second-biggest market after the U.S.

McDonald's has always marketed very well towards children. McD's in France is no exception. The kids really love it and in almost any city, it's a very inexpensive meal.

@AnnieNT: I LOVED McD when I was little. Granted, I mostly wanted the toys...but...yeah.

They call it "Le Big Mac" in France. And they call a Quarter Pounder "Le Grande Royale." And you can buy a glass of beer in a McDonald's in France. I ain't talking about a plastic cup either, I mean a real glass of beer.

I don't know what they call a Whopper, I didn't go into a Burger King.

America's domination of the world is now complete. Victory!

oh god no .....

It's so weird. French people stereotypically are said to hate McDonalds but I have never seen so many McDonalds in one small urban area as I have in Nantes.

There's already a Starbucks in the Louvre. So why not McD's.

It is truly a sign of the "End Of Times"...a Mickey D's in the Louvre! To make the prophecy happen, they must add a drive thru!
