Weeping in Front of Anti-Burger Propaganda

Last week we received this distressed email from Myra, aka Food Monstar:

This weekend I stumbled on a NO-BURGER sign in the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa, which is a direct blow to the massive space I reserve in my heart for burgers.

This prompted giggles from others, but genuine watery eyes on my part; I love burgers! How could this happen? I've since spotted an additional no-burger sign around town, hand painted too, which prompts me to think "Is the burger trend backfiring? Are burgers the new Durian fruit in this burger loving city??" Say it ain't so. AHT, have you ever encountered such horror?

I'm sure I've come across these horrifying signs many times, but I never thought to pay much attention to them. Until now. Next time I see one, I shall photography my weepy visage in front of it. It is the burger's blessing and curse that it should symbolize all foodstuffs.

A bit of poking around revealed a whole Flickr group dedicated to anti-burger propaganda. Here are a few more examples, after the jump.

No burgers. Or torso-less babies. Man, that's tough.

A simple cartoony-looking burger.

..And a somewhat more involved illustration of a burger.

No burgers allowed at memorials in Washington, D.C.

Apparently burgers smell too strongly for this Starbucks in South Korea. But it's such a glorious smell!
