We've received a handful of burger recommendations in the AHT inbox in the past few weeks, Alas, we can't visit all of them—but maybe you can try one of these burgers.
Hi AHT,
Big fan of your site. A local burger shop opened a few miles from my house and the hamburger standards they hold themselves to seem to fit with the ideals you all praise in your articles.
The joint is called GoldBurgers and is located in the center of Newington, CT (South/ Southwest of Hartford). They serve mostly freshly made burgers, but also offer hot dogs and occasionally breakfast items on the weekends. The burgers are thick and juicy and always made fresh that day, never frozen. The portions of very large considering the price. Options in terms of sides, specials, and toppings are varied and a nice change from the norm.
They have a Facebook page that includes their full menu under their photos section. It's rare to find an excellent, burger-dedicated place in the surrounding towns and this place deserves some recognition.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Sincerly,
Jeff G.

Get thee to a Smashburger. It's the finest, fastest, juiciest, best-seasoned fast-food burger I've had, period. Sure, every burger is well-done. But they're always juicy, always delicious, and always ready in about 5 minutes, beating Fuddruckers, another "quality fast-food" burger, by miles. I had one not 60 minutes ago, and it was piping hot from the first bite to the last. How often can you say that about a fast-food burger? Yeah, I ate it quickly, but most fast-food burgers are room temperature at best by the last sickening bite. Not so at Smashburger. And most shocking for fast-food: it actually tastes of beef! I know!
I have nothing to gain by promoting Smashburger to y'all, except that maybe, if AHT raves, then Smashburger's national growth is imminent. And in truth, every community deserves a burger this fast and good.
Smashburger has multiple locations in Colorado, Texas, Idaho, Utah, Minnesota, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Visit their website to find the one nearest you, along with their future locations.
Went back to Val's in Hayward, CA for a mama burger; still hands down the best burger in the USA. Wish you would try it...my treat.

Molly Maguire's in Clark, NJ. It's right off exit 135 on Parkway South. I may partial since I also bartend part time there, but these are serious burgers. The fries are homemade every day and if you get it with cheese, go cheddar as it may be the best cheddar I have ever had on a burger. If you save room, the wings are great too.

Just thought I'd inform on a local sensation.
A small place called Sarah's Wine Bar in Ridgefield, CT, has the most amazing grown up burger experience of all. They have a special, Kobe beef burger that comes with sauteed onions and mushrooms on a perfect brioche-like bun. No need for cheese here (did I actually write that?). It has a side of truffled french fries, wow, and a small cole slaw. There are 2 dishes of ketchup or an herby spicy mustard. Not a kid's burger, not an eat-and-run one either. Amazing. I thought I'd share with someone who obviously adores the good stuff.
