We know what you think of Dijon mustard after the Obama-sparked Dijongate, but for all you mustard-lovers out there, what mustard do you think goes best on a burger?

16 Comments:

In general, this is one of those places where I like standard yellow mustard.

But on a really good, thick, well-cooked pub burger? I usually go for just a dab of dijon, as unpopular as that might be.

Heinz yellow mustard? Geeesch, it's got to be French's Robyn!

@jkdrummer: Sorry, just needed a photo to go with this post. :P

You get sweet things from so many other burger additions (grilled onions, ketchup, bbq sauce, whatever), a nice, tangy, spicy mustard adds a good balance. I don't usually have mustard on my burger, but if I do, I like a light spread of good english mustard. All you need is a small dollop, but it adds a great tang and a sharp bite.

Gotta be the yellow

hit me with some spice

Mustard on a hamburger? Blechhhh!!!

Harvey

glad to see yellow representin', I don't have much use for it in general but don't want anything else on a burger

Does the "H" in AHT stand for "hot dog"? Otherwise I don't get why mustard is being discussed at all.

Strongly-flavored condiments mask the taste of the beef. This is why so many come standard at McDonald's.

Leave them in the fridge.

Colman's English. Incidentally, I used to live above the shop where the original Colman's was invented. It's in Durham, UK. Use it sparingly, because it can be like nerve gas.

Mustard has no business being on a burger. Mustard is for hot dogs. Ketchup is for burgers. Really, though, I prefer my burgers unadorned except for cheese.

Lorenzo, I agree with the mustard for hot dogs part, but ketchup has no place anywhere near food, except maybe on french fries once in a while.

If I'm going to be forced to have mustard on a burger, make it French's please.

Mustard on a hamburger? NEVER!!!!

None of the above - I want my burgers mustard-free!

One good tablespoon of Tabasco mixed with 2 cloves of minced garlic, please.
