Today Carl's Jr. releases the Big Carl, their answer to McDonald's Big Mac as a larger and less expensive alternative. The new burger costs $2.49 and is made with two charbroiled beef patties (seven ounces total), "classic sauce," two slices of American cheese, and lettuce on a toasted sesame seed bun. You can view ads comparing the two burgers to one another at Carl's Jr.'s YouTube page.

Wall Street Journal has more on the "burger war" between Carl's Jr./Hardee's and McDonald's, in relation to McDonald's copying Carl's Jr./Hardee's Angus burger offerings.
