AHT Poll: How Do You Like Your Burgers Cooked?

I'm a firm "medium rare" kind of gal, but what about the rest of the AHT community? Let us know in today's AHT poll!

Assuming I don't run out of burger-related questions, I'll put up a poll each week and share the results at the end of the week. Thanks for participating!

This is definitely one of those things that depends on the place. If it's a thick, hearty patty? Medium rare all the way.

But for some other styles, like the "press-it-into-the-grill to get a good sear" thin patty? It's more about getting the proper sear than the overall done-ness, and I find that the sear is best when the overall patty is medium. Just don't let it dry out too much.

I agree that it depends on the place. Medium rare is the way to go, but as long as the burger is juicy, I love all cheeseburgers!

This is why I wish Nick Solares would order his burgers Medium Rare. It is clear that very few AHT readers order their burgers Rare. Some of those pictures in his reviews are disturbingly raw. I love his reviews, but often wonder how it would change (if any) if the burger was cooked a little longer. Would it still be juicy? Would the grind of the meat stand out more? How much additional char would there be?

I also think it would be more useful to see how accurately a place can cook a medium rare or medium burger. With all the bad press on ground beef, I can't blame a place for slightly overcooking a burger that is requested rare.

I know it's fashionable to like rare or medium rare, but I just don't like the texture. Medium well or well for me, please. Done right, they can still be juicy, and the texture is way better than the mushy middle you get with undercooked beef.

I like it rare. I'm very surprised that it's turning out to be the least popular option.
