Burger King's latest offensive ad comes from Spain and features the Hindu goddess Lakshmi sitting on top of a breakfast sandwich, a doughnut, and a muffin with the caption, "A snack that is sacred." The Hindu American Foundation posted a letter to the Burger King Corporation asking for the removal of the ad. Part of it reads,
An advertisement using sacred symbols, especially those of another culture, for purely commercial purposes is offensive in and of itself, but compounding this insult is the use of an image of a Hindu goddess for the sale of a meat product.
Burger King issued a statement saying that they have removed the ads. They have not named the agency that made the ads.
