Quote of the Day: The Dangers of Food Blogging

Quote of the Day"I'd like to point out that when Kenji took that shot of the "plastic" cheese, it did not go unnoticed within the bar, and I experienced more than a small bit of fear for my personal safety." millions

I've gotten asked to leave a restaurant after taking photos before (not of my food, but of the premises). The one I remember the most was Punch Neapolitan Pizza in St Paul, MN. They told me I had to leave, but was more than welcome to come back in without my camera.

@kaszeta were they rude? that's a bummer. Punch is some of the best pizza around here.

They were polite-but-firm about how the picture I took of a pizza and flames in their oven was the last picture I was ever going to take there.

They obviously softened their policy at some point after that event (which was early August, 2006), since they even held a contest for the best flickr'ed photo (http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=PunchPizzaContest&m=tags) in 2008... Still, it left a slightly sour taste in my mouth, since I've loved Punch since they opened.

Next time I go, I'll probably take my camera and ask.

Interestingly, doing a quick google search revealed this article on Aaron Landry's blog (http://s4xton.com/1660/oven-at-punch-neapolitan-pizza/) about the change in policy.

When we wen to Burger Conquest Casino El Camino in Austin, the cook started screaming at us from the kitchen about how rude it was to take pictures. I almost walked out. Talk about rude!
