Quote of the Day: Real Genius

Quote of the Day"Just invented something I'm about to make for dinner tonight. It's a Fatty Melt, with a Juicy Lucy patty in the middle. I'm calling it the Fat Lucy. You heard it here first." ratbuddy

And if it were made of real cheese (not american) we'd really worry about your rat pedigree...

I love american cheese on burgers, grilled cheeses, and breakfast sandwiches. Nothing else. It just works well in those applications. Maybe on a bacon cheese dog too. Maybe.

I'm with @ratbuddy on the american cheese topic, although I would add eggs to that list.

The gauntlet has been thrown down. I must think of something even better...

@PhotoKirk: The obvious answer is a Jucy Lucy made of ground bacon, with bacon on top, with grilled cheese buns, battered and deep-fried.

@Adam,...ahm i'll have the coronary to go!!

I'm thinking that I could use Pop-tarts instead of bread for the grilled cheeses.

Okay, here's my secret recipe. 2/3 ground beef (whatever your favourite blend is), 1/3 ground italian sausage, as spicy as you dare. Gently mix, and griddle (NOT grill) it with salt and pepper only. Serve on a toasted and buttered potato or Kaiser roll covered in mayo and mustard. Top with a fried slice of good salami, a slice of provolone, some fried pastrami, and more provolone, then fried onions and more provolone. Add lettuce and tomato if you must. Dill pickle slices are not optional, though. At least two. You can finish it in the oven if you must, to melt the cheese. It'll never come out rare, but with practice you can cook it through while retaining the juice.

@NotAmerican: Dude! Shhh. Save that recipe for that annual burger recipe contest! (Actually, I'm happy you shared. Thanks.)

I cook well done even if there's not sausage mixed in with the beef. Hot cast iron pan, don't fool with the beef beforehand, don't squish it down, and only flip once. It comes out juicy as hell, even using 90/10 beef so the wife'll eat it.
