Buffalo Burger from Casino El Camino in Austin

While in Austin for the South By Southwest conference, Michael Calore of Wired blog Underwire reports on the burgers from Casino El Camino. The favorite is the Buffalo burger topped with melted bleu cheese and hot wing sauce that comes in three levels of potentially taste buds-destroying spiciness:

Jim ordered a "medium" and it was almost too much for his delicate California mouth to handle. He was sweating and cursing through the whole experience. He says it was delicious, but he warns you to stay away from the "explosive" option unless you're a Texas-league hot sauce champion.

Burger documentarian George Motz approves of Casino El Camino, putting it on his list of Top 15 Burgers.

It's really good, but it takes forever to actually get to you when you order. Their kitchen is slow!

good burger.

kitchen maybe a little slow but if you were there during sxsw too seems a little harsh to judge a kitchen downtown that is likely slammed for 10 days straight on that one experience, maybe it wasn't crowded when you were there though, I don't know. just a thought.

my mom and dad always forget when sxsw is happening and then get upset when they go to eat somewhere and places are packed.

"..delicate California mouth..."? Compared to Texas? For hot sauce? That's pretty funny.

I was there on a weekday around 2pm, and there were maybe 2-3 other tables of people, tops. Someone who lives in Austin told me they are always slow, and it's because they only *cook* the burgers once an hour.

I read you.
hope I wasn't too accusatory.
I haven't been in five years since I moved,
and always thought of it more as a bar that had some food,
but I did like the burger.
just thought that sxsw might have been a factor,
it makes for a very different city during that week.
