Robb Walsh on the Davis Meat Market Cheeseburger

Eating Our Words

I don't know what the hell is going on in this picture from Robb Walsh's recent blog post, but it looks damn good. And something about the composition reminds me of skiing—it's as if the burger is on a slope of fries with white mountain peaks behind it and a ski lift line going overhead. No, wait—it's like it's skiing on an unmarked trail in dangerous conditions and has just started an avalanche.

Walsh visits Davis Meat Market and deems it just about perfect—but maybe he'd order it medium or medium-rare next time, he says. ("Some bacon couldn't hurt, either.")

Green peppers, eh? I'd try it.

This is an awesome shot. The framing is great. I love the slightly out of focus "Davis Meat Co" sign in the background. Is there such a thing as artistic food porn?

@maxcriden: Jalapeños.

I love the way Robb takes his burger shots. This one is very avalanche-y.

I've said it before: Robb Walsh is a Houston treasure! and that burger, mmmmm, a slippery slope indeed... but what??? NO bacon????

Skiiing? When I saw the photo I immediately thought, Oh, there's a little melting face in the burger. In fact, I expected a post about faces in burgers. I guess I just failed the burger Rorschach test for sanity.

@Michele: If you want a burger with a face, try this one: Burgerface.

I'm with Michelle, it looks very facey to me, with the peppers as the eyes, the patty and lower bun making a demented grin. This is the burgre Tim Burton would animate.

The white slope is the Styrofoam to-go box that the burger basket comes in.
