McDonald's Double Cheeseburger with One Slice of Cheese, Coming Soon

20081103-mcd.jpgDue to rising food costs, McDonald's is planning to replace the double cheeseburger on their Dollar Menu with the McDouble, a double cheeseburger with once slice of cheese instead of two. The double cheeseburger will be available for $1.19.

I think this was the best way to handle this price increase, it's still a good deal and probably my favorite item at McD's

Or come to the UK and pay USD $1.88 (GBP £1.19) for the same...

I participated in a survey about this! I'm glad this is what they decided to go with. Anyone know effective when?

Mark my words, the McDouble is the beginning of the end for McDonald's.

will the size of the beef patty's be the same as the double cheeseburger or will they be smaller? anyone know?

I'm actually okay with this, since I usually didn't like the massive amounts of cheese on the double cheeseburger. They had to do something to address the fact that this was a massive loss leader for them, and I think this was the best option.

(And, when they've had it, the "Triple cheeseburger" was really a triple patty with double cheese).

I'm alright with this because MCDonald's doesnt really make burgers. I don't know what to call what they do, but it isn't food.
