Sweet baby Jesus, yes. That's what I thought when I first watched this video of a burger/meaty sandwich bomb being made at a street cart in Caracas, Venezuela, and I didn't even know exactly what was being put on it. After getting the translation from AHT reader Pilar M., I still kind of wanted it, even though I thought it might kill me.
Here are the contents of the burger, appropriately named "La Diabla," or The Devilish: ketchup, mayo, mustard, onions, cabbage, shoestring potatoes, more ketchup, mayo and mustard, avocado, tomato, burger patty, chorizo, chicken, eggs and bacon, and a mountain of shredded Roquefort cheese. I know what I'm getting on my first trip to Venezuela. The video contains one utterance of "f**k" but is otherwise inoffensive, unless you're freaked out by excessively unhealthy burgers. Watch the video after the jump.
Very nice... I got pretty much all the Spanish but "Mejor que Madonna" (literally "better than Madonna") is idiomatic somehow, or an inside joke, or...? Anyone?
If you are looking for something similar in the US and don't have a Venezuelan place around, try to find a Mexican tortas place. You'll get your craving fixed. http://www.resercom.net/10/menu/items/menuid/128, this is pretty typical of a torta menu.
He didn't say "mejor que Madonna". He said "mejor que McDonald's". Then right after he said "F*ck McDonald's" Because of the accent, the 'd' and the 's' get swallowed rather than enunciated.
I also agree. That looks WAY better than McDonald's.
Good lord... I work about 1 block away from 3 blocks worth of hamburger, hotdog and other food carts where they sell burgers like this one in Valencia, Venezuela. I've never seen one like that though.... it looks delicious and disgusting at the same time, lol.
They claim it's Roquefort cheese, but Roquefort is a French blue crumbly cheese, not what appears in the video, and would add at least $5+ to the cost of the burger in the quantity shown. And even Rochefort cheese is still too creamy but a more likely possibility. To be honest it looks like Monterey Jack...

I bet that is absolutely delicious. I would eat it and then go on a hike to Angel Falls. I wouldn't have to eat anything else for the whole hike.

Isn't Venezuela where they put potato chips on hot dogs too?

I love tortas but I don't dig avocado on mine. I guess it's a texture issue for me.
