Burger People, you should check Peter’s Drive-In in Calgary for "best burger in Canada" consideration. They also have about 60 varieties of incredible shakes. Albertan beef is up there with Argentine beef and this place takes a firm, straight-forward approach to the burger; none of this nonsense with pickled leeks or champagne-marinated onions or raspberry-infused tomato sauce. And being a drive-in burger has got to count for something.
I enjoy the odd Peter's burger for the grease, but NOT for the fresh, med. rare flavor or many much better burgers out there.
For my money the only burgers worth eating in Calgary are Burger Inn burgers. Esp. the boar burger with mushrooms and bacon. SO good. Peters are overcooked, generic, thin, greasy and flavorful, but don't come close to perfection.
Best burger I ever had in Canada was at Rocky's Burger Bus in Calgary. Huge, fresh burger from a stand made from an old bus. Peter's is good, but this guy didn't even find the best in his town.
My vote for good burgers in Calgary has to be either Burger Inn, or Boogie's Burgers, an awesome little joint just out of downtown with old video games.
Peter's is a sentimental favorite; in my mind they've always distinguished themselves more for their gigantic portions - the single burgers include an extra half patty in addition to the first, and the fries, onion rings and shakes are served in orders far too large for one person.
But the quality of the burgers themselves? Generic pre-shaped and surely from frozen patties, standard toppings and buns.
Peter's is tremendously well-regarded; even an e-coli outbreak traced back to tainted food at the restaurant resulted in a flood of supportive business, rather than the typical shunning.
Allow me to shamelessly plug myself. My name is Donald and I run a burger blog that reviews burgers in Victoria, BC and other places on Vancouver Island and the west coast.

I've always been curious about the Calgary burger bus, and just the burger scene there in general. Seems to have much more of a burger culture than anywhere else in Canada.
I can totally vouch for the awesomeness of Peter's Drive-In, but I think the star of the show has got to be their SHAKES. They are so thick you need to (well ok, I need to) suck hard on the straw TWICE before you get your first sip.
The e-coli outbreak was interestingly enough not traced back to the meat, but to an employee who was carrying the bacteria and passed it on to a marshmallow milkshake, if I recall correctly.

Can't really tell from the picture what the burger is like - what are those curly things in the cone, though? They look interesting!
