'Cheeseburger' Doughnut from Donna's Donuts

20081022-cheeseburgerdonut.png

Artist's rendition, based on another cheeseburger doughnut.

Donna's Donuts in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, is offering a cheeseburger doughnut. There's no burger or cheese involved; it just looks like a cheeseburger:

...A chocolate honey-dipped (the "burger") is put inside the shell of a jelly donut (the bun) and slathered with Bavarian cream (the cheese) to create a sweet cheeseburger-lookalike.

Doughnut sandwich with two kinds of cream-smothered doughnut in every bite? Bring it on. It looks like Donuts with a Difference in Medford, Massachusetts, also makes a cheeseburger doughnut, as seen in this photo.

Now that is a donut burger I would actually want to try!

I don't think I've tried one of these, but eating food that looks like other, vastly different tasting food seems weird to me. It's putting your senses (visual versus taste) in conflict.

Hubert Keller's Burger Bar in the Lumiere Place Casino in St. Louis serves a dessert burger, which is doughnut, chocolate ganache "burger" , mango gelee for the "cheese" and so on. I've been to Donuts with a Difference many times and can vouch for the fact that all of the donuts are quite yummy and homemade...though I've never tried the burger ones.

i'm craving for some donuts now...
