Luna Pier Cook blogger Dave Liske (better known as LunaPierCook on Serious Eats) gave us a heads up about this mammoth one-pound burger found at Chateau Louise in Luna Pier, Michigan. He didn't delve into the specifics of how to get the whole thing into one's mouth, but he let us know how this ginormous meatball sandwich tastes:
The custom ground meat for the Chateau Burger gives it a distinctive flavor that's somewhat addicting. Also, with the burger itself ending up so large, "medium rare" means the inside is really more red than just pink. Imagine the inside of a large Filet Mignon that's been cooked medium rare. That's what you'll find inside this thing.
Big chunk of medium-rare meat? I like the sound of that.

One pound of beef is lunacy....then we wonder why there is an issue with obesity in this country. What the hell is it with our "more, more, more" attitude?
I was basing my estimate of the size of this 'burger' on the standard-issue steak knife laying next to it. It looks like it's at least 5 inches thick, the patty is nearly as tall as it is wide. And you're saying you can take a bite of that thing, from top bun to bottom bun, and get everything in your mouth?
@Buckethead, really, ya' gotta smoosh it together, and then stretch your jaw, but yes, it's possible! Those who've had them, know.
One thing we've found is that when you mention you're from Luna Pier, people within a 50-mile radius have a tendency to ask if this place, with these burgers, is still here. Invariably, they've had at least one of these if not more.
Looks way too thick to get any consistency in cooking, and I can't imagine how anyone would finish that thing without having to be carried out, with an IV of seltzer running into their veins.
Some of these comments, when taken out of context, made me chuckle.
This looks pretty good, minus the onions and cheese, that I'd check it out! Then again, I'm one of "those people" who eats a burger with the bun 1/3 to 1/2 way through and tosses the bun to the side, then finishes the lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and meat.
@Cassaendra, I like the sounds of that! The fact is, until someone actually tries this burger they have no reason to complain about it. The thing is excellent, yes there's consistency in its cooking, it's a great once-a-month-or-so binge meal ... the place is a quarter mile from my house, so I do know of what I speak!

I dunno. I think you'd have to be a Luna-tic to try to eat this burger. I'll stick with Miller's (Dearborn).

My wife and I have to split these things. But the boys (all teens) can finish them off just fine. :-)

I hate it when they put the lettuce tomato onion on the bottom...

I think it's a bit off on the beef to bun ratio.

A burger that can't fit in a human mouth is not a burger at all.

@Buckethead, yes I can make this burger fit in my mouth. Works every time.
I love when people judge food via only a photo ...

It looks like it would be a chore to eat. Not saying I wouldn't give it a whirl, but I picture it being a mess to consume.

I like a good burger just as much as the next person, but that picture nauseates me. That just looks SO GROSS. It's way too huge.
