In Videos: 'How I Met Your Mother' Burger Quest Recap

20080930-howimetyourmother.jpg

Did you catch How I Met Your Mother last night? We did—and we loved it. In "The Best Burger in New York" episode, an unemployed Marshall sets out to find a burger he had in New York eight years ago with only two details he remembers about the restaurant: a red neon sign reading "BURGER" and a green door. He makes fun of a few burger joints in New York, namely Corner Bistro, Paul's Da Burger Joint, and The 21 Club. With the help of his friends (and Regis Philbin), they set out to find that dream burger, which in a monologue, he describes as "God." At one point, Neil Patrick Harris says his burger is so good, "I want to get this burger pregnant."

By the end of the episode they find the unnamed burger joint, which is somewhere near 106th Street and Manhattan Avenue. As it turns out, a bank—also Marshall's new job—has opened an ATM in the original's place. They end up paying a guy $100 to tell them the new location, which is never named. After taking that first bite of "The Burger," Marshall finds himself again. We love TV shows with inspirational messages—and of course mentions of "delicious burger babies."

"I love this burger so much, I want to sew my ass shut."

Hah. We need to get the HIMYM writers working for AHT. I love the lines in there describing burgers!

really popular phrase these days.

here, same line, but about corn bread. it's from 30 rock (7 seconds long)

Har! Neil Patrick Harris has always been one of my minor heroes, even if he is Dr. Horrible.

@foodinmouth: I thought you were referring to the "sew my ass shut" line. That's a much better line.

Regis playing himself in this is like Neil Patrick Harris playing himself in Harold and Kumar.

This was an awesome episode even though it did nothing for the plot line. The vivid descriptions of lust for the burger were amazing. I'd bet there's someone who loves burgers on the writing staff - "then, a bit of pickle.. and you're there.." :)

Neil Patrick Harris? Doogie Howser M.D. ?? Enough said....

I don't think I could have ever watched that show otherwise, but what a great episode. An entire sitcom episode dedicated to the best burger in NY. That was great!
