Remember the bacon burger? You know, the burger made from ground bacon? Well, its creator (who posts here sometimes as PhotoKirk) just emailed me saying he wanted to push the envelope for 2008, so he went pretty nuts. He essentially made a Jucy Lucy (cheese-stuffed patty) from ground bacon and then DEEP-FRIED IT! He says:
It was pretty good, but not as good as the original 100% Bacon Burger. I think using a smaller patty and cooking it on the grill would have been better. Perhaps that will be Bacon Burger 3.0...
I don't know, I think he's pretty much gone as outrageous as possible and that going smaller and grilled would be a downgrade.
Oh my God. A cheese-stuffed burger made from ground bacon! And then deep-frying it? I feel my arteries clogging as I type this. I'm in Baltimore..where do I get one?
HELP!!
I know I'm going to risk getting kicked off SE for being brutally honest, however ... if Paula Dean had made this beasty, I'm pretty darn sure this post would be of the blunt "she's trying to kill us again" variety, followed by similar commentary.
LunaPier: Fair 'nuff. You're right. So I've updated the post here to put things on even ground. ;) Thanks! And, no, you're not getting kicked off for statin' the truth.
I put on 3 pounds just looking at the pic and reading the article. Cigarette smoking seems healthy enough in comparison. Imagine a 30 day "Super Size Me" experiment with only that burger. Dead in 4 days...but how tasty! Is there anything that bacon can't do?
Cheers, TB.
I once wrapped a broken arm in bacon and it healed in five days...
But seriously, this might sound crazy, but since I like my bacon somewhat chewy, deep frying tends to crisp it up to much for me. I have a feeling this burger would be too crunchy. And I would say that after finishing it of course. ;-)
what's the interior consistency of the burger? I like my bacon really crisp--just wondering how you could get the interior bacon done without totally incinerating the outter surface. Not that I plan on trying this...

I'm just ensuring that future generations will be able to drill for oil... in our left ventricles.

Is that fried okra on the side? That is creepy.

How to push that envelope? Serve it between two pancakes with a bit pat of maple butter.

Fried jalapenos? Oh well, yum. Okra shivers me timbers, as the pirates say.
