Openings: New Pop Burger in Midtown

We mentioned it on AHT in passing a couple weeks ago, but today Grub Street is reporting more details on the new Pop Burger coming to Midtown Manhattan:

... come September a new outpost — three times the size of the current location — will take over all three stories of a building at 14 East 58th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues, with the first floor dedicated to counter service; the second floor serving as a lounge decked out with speakers, projectors, a bar, a D.J. booth, and raw-oak paneling; and the third floor acting as a private party space with pool table.

While AHT founding editor Honey P. liked the Pop Burger we visited, I typically find the burgers there a bit dry and a bit overpriced.

Upper East Side starts at 57th St, no?

Pop Burger is in my opinion exceptionally poor. Instead of being troubled to cook you fresh burgers when you place your order, they instead pre-cook them, and throw them back onto the grill to reheat. The result is an overcooked and tastless hockey puck. The other slider place that engages in this practice, and ruins their burgers as a result, is Burke in the Box at Bloomingdales (is that place even still there). In any case, both of these places are amongst the worst in the City and give mini-burgers a bad name.

@BaHa: You're probably right. I'm notoriously bad with neighborhood delineations.

@Makanmata: Good to see you again! Yeah. Pop Burger: Eh. The burgers seem almost like an afterthought there. And the fact that the new place is three levels, two of which devoted to lounge/bar and private party room, really tells you where the priority is.
