Tonight on CNBC there's going to be a repeat of Big Mac: Inside the McDonald's Empire. I missed it on July 25, but I'm curious to see tonight what the cable news channel has up its sleeve. Airing at 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. ET.
It was a total cheerleader puff piece. But what did I expect? It's not like McDonald's is going to give CNBC inside access to do a muckraking piece. 'Twas somewhat interesting if watched with a healthy dose of skepticism.
While I didn't see that one, I have seen some clips on Food Network about McD's and Ray Krock. While I find McD's burgers abhorrent, another billion or so loyal McD's customers would disagree. For that reason I tip my hat to the company. I don't know what "bad" things could be said about them. They employ young people and other folks that would not have a job otherwise. They also do a fair bit of charity work through Ronald McDonald House. Maybe I think the burger is lame or the service sucks but one could say the same about any big corporation that has only given to us, the people, exactly what we wanted! Proof is in the unbelievable sales and popularity. If the stock market crashed like in the 20's tomorrow, McDonalds would still be in business. Just my 2 1/2 cents.
Makes me sad I don't have a tv. I have a not-so-secret deep love of the Mac. I have terrible guilt about it. My hubby and I restrict our mac consumption to one shared big mac no more than once every two weeks at ONLY the McDonalds in Delhi, NY. This is easy because we are not often IN Delhi. I know they're all assembly line and spec, but I swear they are better than the ones in NYC. Upstaters just care more.
I hate McDonalds, but I love The Mac. Forgive me.

How'd it end up being? I've heard complaints that it wasn't interested in any of the bad things McDonalds has done.

Missbhavens: I agree about the Upstaters caring more. I've had the worst fast food since moving to NYC.
