The National Hamburger Festival

It happens this weekend in Akron, Ohio.

burgerbobnew.jpgFeaturing such events as "Bobbing for Burgers." As the National Hamburger Festival's website says:

It's fun. It's messy. It's a contest like no other, it's the "ketchup bowl." Your mission is to pluck as many hamburgers from a baby pool filled with ketchup in 3 minutes.

That's at 3 p.m. tomorrow, folks. Be sure to register now.

Also on tap for tomorrow: the Best Burger Competition, Restaurant Division (with categories for Best Traditional and Best Creative), and the Ohio Hamburger Eating Championships.

On Sunday, you might meet the hamburgirl of your dreams during the Miss Hamburger Festival contest. And hey, if you're lucky, you and Mrs. Hamburger can come back next year with your newborn in tow for the Baby Burger contest—dress your kid up in a burger-themed costume. If you're up for more serious burger matters, the Best Burger Competition, Amateur Division, takes place this day.

The National Hamburger Festival will be held at Lock 3, next to the Akron Civic Theater in downtown Akron, 200 South Main Street.
