Some initial reports from recently opened Brgr ...
New York magazine: No real critique, just background: "One-third pound natural Angus, sourced from boutique beefery Montana Legend, seasoned with house-blend spice mix and griddled or charbroiled to temperature." [link]
The Homesick Texan: "I stopped by Brgr on Seventh Avenue this evening. I ordered a medium-rare cheeseburger, and it came out way overdone. Small 100% Angus beef patty was overwhelmed by veggies. A snack, not a meal. Expensive." [link]
Eat for Victory: "It reminded me of a guy who looks hot from down the block, but not so good up close. The place is slick and overtly trendy, and the menu is appealing, but the details are all messed up." [link]
Any other reports, folks?

My report on Brgr? Just don't go... I waited 30 minutes, staring dumbfounded at the utter chaos in the open kitchen. 8 cooks could not manage a menu consisting of basically a single item. It seemed that every other order was made or delivered incorrectly -- and the result was that burgers were getting shoved in bags, plopped on trays, retrieved, redelivered. In the end, who would want to eat anything that had been handled this much... Bad burger karma if you ask me. The head chef (or some other authority) stomps around the place looking annoyed -- and woe betide you if you happen to lodge a complaint. Apologies for the 30 minute wait? No. I got the old "everyone's waiting for their burger" -- as if that somehow made a difference. Then he got up in my face and said I was "getting excited." The first thing Brgr should do is ditch this guy. He can't handle the stress. I asked for (and received) my money back so I can't report on the quality of the food itself. But I watched about 100 burgers make their way down the assembly line (none of them mine, of course), and from what I could see, this is nothing special. And 10 bucks at that. Sorry, but Brgr is not ready for real paying customers yet.
Couldn't agree more...ate their today and at best it's a mediocre burger that's waaaay overpriced! The fixings sounded great on the menu but the taste was very nowhere to be found. Pass, pass, pass!
Agreed. I work around the corner and see the lines everyday, but my one trip there was a big disappointment. The burger was greasy not very tasty and not cooked to order. The brgr sauce was too skimpy to be tasted. The hand squeezed lemonade was too tart, and they didn't have onion hay b/c they hadn't gotten their onion delivery. With all their hype about quality and service I'd at least expect them to keep enough onions around to keep their relatively small menu stocked. And $5.50 for a shake? Oh how I wish Shake Shack was year round.
I ate at BRGR today and while it's not bad, it's not anywhere nearly as good as they think they are. The burger itself is pretty good, although cooked a bit too well for some tastes (not mine). The bun leaves a little to desire, and the fries were ok, if salty. But at more than $10 for a cheeseburger and fries with no drink? Come on! The burgers are small, too. A bit larger than Shake Shack, but not enough to justify the price premium. They're obviously attempting to capture some of the Shack's appeal, but the burger is nowhere near that good. It's a meh burger at mmm.... prices.
