Friend of AHT Tangiene P. of Vancouver, B.C., took this photo. She says, "Here is the 'Skookum Chief Burger' from Tomahawk restaurant in North Vancouver. It has wieners, ham, egg, burger patty, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion."
Though she didn't state it explicitly, the subject line of her email was "The best burger in North Vancouver."
That's a honkin' load of meat, T.P. Thanks for the pic.
UPDATE: Making what looks like a great burger even better, a tipster tells us that Tomahawk uses fresh, organic beef from the Blue Goose Cattle Company in British Columbia.
The Tomahawk is not only awesome because of the incredibly messy Skookum Chief Burger (that egg is fried), but because the owners, during the leaner parts of the early 20th century, literally kept the local First Nations people fed by agreeing to trade for whatever they had, which wound up being handicrafts. The Tomahawk has an amazing mini museum to gaze at while chomping down on the grub.
I booked a hotel in North Vancouver just last week and this place is just around the corner...sweet! I think I might have a heart attack, but I need to try that burger.
What a surprise to see the Skookum featured on the web! I used to work at Tomahawk in 1980 and I tell, you the burgers are GREAT! The urban legend is Bryan Adams used to work there as a dishwasher! Ah, the memories!
So kewl to see my Families heritage and its by products up on the Web.Yes we had the pleasure to have had Bryan in his earlier years with us as a "Dishwasher" He use to drive us nuts during our shift singing and drumming tunes on the dishwashing machine. The Tomahawk is no stranger to local Celebrities, likes of Paul Martin PM,Jim Pattison,Terry David Mulligan,Bruce Willis, the list reads like a hollywood gossip column. They all come for the warm and fuzzy feeling of a local Burger joint gone Global!Come by and check it out Tell em Billy sent you "Keep Smiling"

I just got an email from Tomahawk's Chuck Chamberlain, who confirms that Bryan Adams did indeed work there.
