AOL City Guide Releases City's Best 2006

20060327aolcityguide.jpgMarch may be early for a best-of list, but don't tell AOL that. They've released their City's Best guide for 2006. There are tons of great places, but we're obviously most interested in the burgers. AOL's lists are built from editorial nominations and user votes, which usually means the same old places show up on the list, but that isn't necessarily the case for the NYC winners. Peter Luger, which we really do intend to visit soon, took the top spot. The rest of list, in order, is NY Burger Co., Burger Joint, Corner Bistro, Union Square Cafe, J.G. Melon, Blue 9, Pop Burger, Spotted Pig and Rare Bar and Grill.

The list seems to have some clunkers (like Blue 9, which has been going downhill for a while, and NY Burger Co., which got bad user reviews despite its position in the list) but otherwise has some good choices. The most glaring omission is Shake Shack. I'm not saying it's gotta be number one, but it should be in the top ten.

If you're not a New Yorker, City Guide also has 15 burgers to die for, which is a list of the best from around the country. And here is the tops for Chicago, Los Angeles and D.C..
