As part of a major rebranding effort involving celebrity spokespeople like soccer star David Beckham and actress Salma Hayek, Burger King unveiled singer Mary J. Blige's commercial for Burger King's new crispy chicken snack wraps* at the beginning of this month—and then quickly pulled them down due to, in Burger King's words, music licensing issues, not at all mentioning the criticism the commercial received for promoting racial stereotypes (or just being lame).
Last week, members of the comedy troupe The Second City made a series of increasingly over-the-top commercials spoofing the original and the controversy surrounding it.
